NBC Chicago –  At least seven people were injured and a 15-year-old boy was killed in overnight shootings in Chicago.

Chicago police said the boy was fatally shot while standing on the sidewalk on the 700 block of East 50th Street in Bronzeville, four blocks from President Barack Obama’s Chicago home.

Cornelius German had been shot in the back and was found unresponsive at about 9:40 p.m. Monday. Police Department spokesman John Mirabelli said German was a gang member but that the motive for the shooting was not yet certain.

German was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after he was found. Mirabelli said no one was in custody as of Tuesday morning.

Six other men were injured in two separate South Side shootings Monday in the Englewood and Auburn Gresham neighborhoods.

Four men, ages 19, 30, 32 and 34, were shot about 4:15 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Lowe Avenue, police said.
