President Obama’s trip to South Africa has inspired an outpouring of creativity from the country’s citizens — including one unexpected rap performance from 15-year-old Aviwe Mtongana.
During a tour of the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation Youth Centre on Sunday, Obama met with students from the organization’s after-school program.
He eventually approached Mtongana, a 15-year-old who chatted with the president about his love for singing and rapping.
Moments later, Mtongana was persuaded to deliver an impromptu performance in front of both Obama and South African social rights activist Desmond Tutu.
Following the youngster’s performance, Obama seemed impressed and told Mtongana: “You gotta drop the mic! That’s fantastic. Outstanding. I like that.”
