Marco Rubio enrolls in Obamacare
theGRIO REPORT - Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) enrolled his family in Obamacare this week.
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) enrolled his family in Obamacare this week.
Rubio has been one of the strongest voices opposing the Affordable Care Act, saying in July that “several of my colleagues and I have made it clear that we won’t fund Obamacare as part of the short-term spending bill that’s going to be considered in Congress in September.”
“Senator Rubio spent time looking at all the options and decided to enroll through the D.C. exchange for coverage for him and his family,” spokeswoman for the senator Brooke Sammon told the Tampa Bay Times.
The Republican senator opted to take the federal subsidy available to lawmakers and staff. The subsidy could cover up to 75 percent of monthly premium costs.
“Senator Rubio is following the law, even though he opposes it,” Sammon said.
