Singers Katy Perry and John Mayer joined The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday to discuss Mayer’s new music video for “Who You Love,” which Perry compared to Kanye West’s “Bound 2” video with fiance Kim Kardashian.
DeGeneres asked if this was their response to West’s “Bound 2” and Perry said it was.
“Yes,” the “Roar” singer said. “I thought our response was a little bit more authentic because my hair was blowing in the right direction, though.”
Throughout the “Bound 2” music video, West is riding a motorcycle and Kardashian is facing him. Even though the motorcycle is moving forward, Kardashian’s hair is still blowing behind her head as if she is facing forward.
“I wanted it to look as phony as possible,” West explained the video to Power 105. “I wanted the clouds to go in one direction, the mountains to go in another, the horses to go over there, I wanted to show that this is the ‘Hunger Games,’ this is the type of imagery that’s being presented to all of us, the only difference is there’s a black dude in the middle of it.”
