You just can’t make some of this stuff up.

How in the world did a man assigned to interpret Nelson Mandela’s memorial for the deaf not actually know sign language? Thamsanq Jantjie stood three feet away from President Barack Obama and reportedly suffered a schizophrenic attack, which was the purported root of his gestures.

And then Fox News’ Megyn Kelly declared that Santa Claus “just is white” and Jesus “was a white man, too.”

These stories were in the month of December alone. 2013 was quite the year for wacky, tacky and racially smh-worthy news.

Like the one about the white supremacist who found out he was 14 percent black – yep, the gifts that keep giving.

Thank you 2013. We’re sad to see you go, but we appreciate the moments you made us scratch our heads in disbelief.
