With Anthony Mackie as Falcon and Michael B. Jordan being cast as the new Johnny Storm, African-Americans being cast as iconic superheroes appears to be a growing trend.

This summer the new installment of the popular X-Men series Days Of Future Past will be released starring Halle Berry as Storm, but #BlackTwitter thinks someone else would be better suited for the role.

Could Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o be the next actress to play Storm?

Although Berry has played the part admirably in three films, a change.org petition has been posted urging producers to cast the 12 Years A Slave star as Storm in a spin-off movie.

Love you Halle, but lets cast Storm the way she was intended to be. #LupitaForXMen http://t.co/NoHFHPzDro“”

Both Nyong’o and Storm share African lineage and this could be used as inspiration for a complete reboot of the character. And while Storm’s classic costume features her with long silver hair, her punk-rock look is something Nyong’o fans have embraced.
