A Miami-Dade woman is thankful to be alive after she was shot in the head during a robbery right outside her home.

The 26-year-old, who requested her name not be released, told NBC 6 she was attacked by a man carrying a handgun when she returned home form work in the early morning hours Wednesday.

The gunman demanded her purse and began assaulting her immediately.

“I was like, Oh God,” the victim recounted. “Please don’t tell me I’m going to die tonight. Please don’t let me die.”

Her grandmother, who was inside the house at the time of the shooting, heard the commotion and called 9-1-1.

“Now, it still feels like it’s a dream, but when I look in the mirror I know that is really happened and I’m just grateful to be alive,” she said.
