Oprah Winfrey slams Donald Sterling for 'plantation mentality'

Oprah Winfrey appeared yesterday on CBS This Morning alongside Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz to promote the new chai tea that Oprah created for Starbucks.

During the interview, Oprah and Schultz were asked to weigh in on Donald Sterling’s alleged racist comments, which have since been confirmed by the NBA.

Donald Sterling banned for life from NBA, fined $2.5 million

Schultz, a former NBA owner, said, “I’d ban him for life. This is much more than just about the NBA, this is about America.”

This Morning host, Gayle King, then turned to her best friend Oprah for her view of the situation.

“You’ve been following the story?” asked King. “Of course I’ve been following this story, and it feels like a plantation mentality in the 21st Century, in 2014,” Oprah said. “It just doesn’t fit. And I’m waiting to see what they’re going to do. Because something has to be done.”
