During Monday night’s preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, several defensive players for the Redskins paid tribute to Michael Brown during their entrance onto the field.
Veteran safety Brandon Meriweather and accompanying defensive backs walked onto the field with their hands up, reports NBC Washington.
The hands up in a surrendering pose has become a symbol of protest against police in Ferguson, Missouri.

Brown, an unarmed teen, was shot at least six times and killed by Darren Wilson, a Ferguson police officer.
“Anytime you get an opportunity to do something like that, it’s something that needs to be discussed, something that you truly need to believe,” veteran safety Ryan Clark told the Washington Post. “That could have been any one of us. That could have been any one of our brothers, our cousins, just anyone.”
