The restoration of LeBron James’ hairlineĀ has been generating a lot of buzz online, and it’s not justĀ coming from wisecracking fans on social media. Mainstream news outlets from the Washington Post to TIME MagazineĀ all seem to be fascinated with LeBron’s hairline.
TheĀ Bleacher Report received 721,000 views from an article focused solely on its return. The writer Dan Carson began the article with this quip:
āHold up.
Wait. Stop the record, Dre.Ā We need to talk about something crucially important to the social fabric ā specifically, we need to discuss the state of the follicle union atop LeBron Jamesā head.ā
LeBronās receding hairlineĀ has somehow been the topic of discussion ever since he decided to leave Cleveland. It’s been the subject of countlessĀ internet memes such as these onĀ thefumble.com. It’s even been mocked on-air by theĀ NBA on TNTĀ crew.
Earlier this week at Nike’s headquarters, James not only unveiled his much anticipated “Lebron 12” sneakerĀ but also a new haircut that seems to have restored the hair he’s lost over the past few years.
USA TodayĀ didn’t hesitate to broachĀ the subject matter with its speculation on how King James’ hairline made a Lazarus-like return.
āWas it Rogaine? Hair plugs? One of those late night infomercials offering a hybrid treatment of lasers, staples, and excess back hair? It was probably all of those things, plus a mystical hair incantation, and then a secret government thing we donāt even know about. And you know what? LeBron looks great. Do your thing, LeBron.ā
The only way we will possibly know if this whole hair thing is permanentĀ is by paying close attention to it over a span of an 82 game season. Will it hit the “rookie wall” or make it to the playoffs?Ā Only time will tell.
