SNL spoofs Al Sharpton, goes in on Secret Service
Saturday Night Live's cold open was a send up of the US Secret Service.
Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update featured Keenan Thompson as Rev. Al Sharpton talking about a story in the New York Times that claims that some African-Americans feel that President Obama is deliberately not being protected well enough by the Secret Service.
Thompson stumbles and mispronounces his way through the bit, making fun of the MSNBC host’s trouble with the teleprompter. Prompted by Weekend Update co-anchor Colin Jost, Sharpton launches into a comical diatribe touching on the White House intruder (who according to ‘Sharpton,’ ate a sandwich and watched The Butler in the Lincoln bedroom before anyone noticed him) and Ebola — the virus you get through email.
