Stossel: "If there's so much racism, how come Nigerians do so well?"

Some publications have noted that it appears John Stossel is trying to downplay race issues in America — and his latest segment for Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor goes a long way in supporting that claim.
During Tuesday night’s broadcast, Stossel interviewed people on the street about their opinions concerning racism. The feedback he received was both varied and nuanced. However, when discussing the footage with Bill O’Reilly, he appeared to almost be amused by those who spoke about the trials that black American’s still face.
At one point, the reporter even mused “If there’s so much racism, [in America] how come Nigerians do so well?” He and O’Reilly came to the conclusion that black people from other countries were “raised differently” than those in this country.
It’s also worth mentioning that in the past, Stossel has called for a repeal of the section of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that prohibits hotels and restaurants from discriminating on the basis of race. He’s made light of affirmative action programs by holding an “affirmative action bake sale” in which members of different races are charged different prices for baked goods. And he has even suggested that employers should be allowed to discriminate against people with disabilities.
Stossel’s open disdain for those who use the “race card” paired with Bill O’Reilly’s socially conservative platform means there is so much to unpack about this clip, we think it’s best you just watch it for yourself.
