The British actor graces the cover of the September issue dressed more like a James Bond than the scantily clad spreads the men’s magazine is known for.
“We’ve never in US Maxim history had a man on the cover solo,” Maxim’s current editor-in-chief Kate Lanphear shared, noting that men have been featured on the cover alongside women before. “This is the very first time, and there was no one else in the world more badass than Idris.”
Lanphear has been at the magazine for less than a year and is a former editor at Elle and The New York Times’ style magazine T. Her appointment signals a new direction for the publication.
