Kanye West confirms 2020 presidential bid: 'I've got a lot of research to do'
It looks like Kanye West wasn't kidding during the 2015 VMA's and has every intention of running for commander in chief.
It looks like Kanye West wasn’t kidding during the 2015 VMA’s and has every intention of running for commander in chief.
This week, the rapper confirmed to Vanity Fair that he was serious during his announcement on MTV last month.
“Oh, definitely,” West answered when asked if he would run for president.
“I didn’t approach that because I thought it would be fun. It wasn’t like, ‘Oh, let’s go rent some jet skis in Hawaii,’” the 38-year-old producer told the magazine. “No, the exact opposite. I sit in clubs and I’m like, ‘Wow, I’ve got five years before I go and run for office and I’ve got a lot of research to do, I’ve got a lot of growing up to do.'”
West says the cheers he received from the audience after he shared his intentions only confirmed that he had made the right decision.
“As soon as I said that, it was like, ‘Wait a second, we would really be into that, because actually if you think about it, he’s extremely thoughtful,'” West mused.
“Every time he’s ever gotten in trouble, he was really jumping in front of a bullet for someone else. He’s probably the most honest celebrity that we have.”
During this current election, it appears West and his wife Kim are backing Hilary Clinton, and even Donald Trump seems to be a fan.
“You know what? I will never say bad about (West), you know why? Because he loves Trump!” the real estate mogul answered when asked about a potential 2020 campaign. “Kanye West has been so great!”
As any politico will tell you, getting bipartisan support with virtually no experience is no small feat. Only time will tell how all this pans out.
