Teen shows up to school in blackface Nicki Minaj costume

You’d think that most people in this country know better than to dress up in blackface. In the recent past, celebrities and lay people alike have been publicly shamed for racial appropriation — especially when it comes to Halloween costumes.

However, it seems one student in Florida didn’t get the memo, a faux pas that she paid for thanks to social justice watchdogs of the internet.

In a tweet posted Monday morning, a young woman who goes by the name Emma Johns posted a picture with the caption, “Nicki Minaj and Drake in the cut. #DynamicDuo #Homecoming #Ovo”

In the photo, she is wearing a leopard catsuit, in full body blackface, complete with epic butt pads to complete her transformation into Minaj. Her white male friend, on the other hand simply grew a beard and threw on an OVO t-shirt and a gold chain to be Drake.

While we don’t know how her friends reacted at homecoming, as soon as she made the Twitter post, a good Samaritan warned her she was in for a world of hurt.

That message ended up being prophetic, as the pictures were blasted so thoroughly Ms. Johns had to make her account private and eventually deleted it — leaving Twitter altogether.

Screenshots never die, though.
