The aliens from Independence Day are coming back, in an epic trailer for the sequel film, Independence Day Resurgence.

The trailer features that iconic speech from the first movie, along with some hints as to what the future holds for our intrepid heroes.

In the 20 years since the invasion from the first movie, it looks like humanity is preparing to be able to fight off another such attack. They have been integrating the alien technology into their own society even as they work to beef up their defenses.

Although the trailer looks pretty amazing, there is one downside: Will Smith, who was in the original film, will not be returning to reprise his role as the character of Capt. Steve Hiller.

According to Warof1996.com, Hiller’s character was apparently promoted to the rank of colonel before his death but tragically died during a test run of the first alien hybrid fighter. His character is survived by his wife and son, Jasmine and Dylan, and judging by what we’ve seen in the trailer, it looks like Dylan takes after his father and also becomes a pilot.

Vivica A. Fox, Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum are among the original cast members who are slated to reprise their roles.
