This week, Hillary Clinton addressed the growing backlash over the lack of racially diverse nominees at the 2016 Academy Awards.

In an interview with AOL, the democratic presidential hopeful said the Academy’s response is long “overdue” and that they needed to “catch up” with the times.

“I think it is overdue, but the Academy announced that they are going to be making some changes as they should,” she replied when asked about the impending boycott of the the award show. She also believes they need “to really move as quickly as they can to make those changes.”

Clinton is now one of the many public figures encouraging the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to approach this issue with a sense of urgency.
