Ashanti’s stalker, Devar Hurd, has been sentenced to prison time, but he might not be staying there for very long.
Hurd was sentenced to between 16 months and 4 years of prison time, but he has served 32 months in jail for violating a restraining order. Because he will get credit for that time served, it is now up to the Department of Corrections to decide how long his prison sentence should be and if he will have to stay in jail for the remainder of the time, if any.
When he does get out of prison, a new restraining order will prevent him from contacting Ashanti, her sister or mother for the next 5 years.
