New video features Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Rihanna, other stars speaking up about violence against blacks

Alicia Keys is just one of many stars featured in a powerful new video called “23 Ways You Could Be Killed If You Are Black in America,” in partnership with The effort is part of Key’s “We Are Here” social justice initiative, which considers itself a one-stop site to change the world.

The singer is joined by notable celebrities, including Beyonce, Common, Kevin Hart, Rihanna, Taraji P Henson, Bono, Pink and more.

In the video, each star is seen and heard listing a way black Americans have died, either at the hands of law enforcement, vigilantes or white supremacists. The video was inspired by an article from Mic Senior Staff Writer Jamilah King, who offered the 23 ways as an inexhaustive list.

As a part of the effort, Keys has started a petition to tell President Obama and Congress that it is time for change. “We must right our historic wrongs and heal the wounds of systemic racism so that all Americans have the equal right to pursue happiness.”
