George W. Bush reportedly admitted in April to a group of aides and advisers that he was worried he would be the “last Republican president.”

“I’m worried that I will be the last Republican president,” Bush said at a gathering with staff administrators, when the prospects for the Republican candidacy were between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.

The comment has since been reported by Politico and Bush’s office offered no comment.
