Wife of man gunned down in road rage incident by an off-duty NYPD officer sues the city for $25M
Wenona Hauser Small, whose husband, Delrawn Small, was killed by a police officer in a road rage incident on July 4, is suing New York City in a $25 million wrongful death lawsuit.
“No one should die like that,” she told the NY Daily News in an exclusive interview.
Delrawn Small was killed when the off-duty NYPD officer, Wayne Isaacs, approached the driver’s side window and fired into the car seconds after approaching.

“He committed cold-blooded murder,” Hauser Small said. “It was disgusting. He just shot him dead with no justification.”
Wenona Hauser Small called out the fact that police had originally claimed Isaacs fired in self-defense after being repeatedly punched, though surveillance video released of the incident has since disproven that claim.

“I feel it was a cover-up,” Hauser Small said. “Then they were assassinating (Small’s) character. But I’m willing to wait for justice to be done.”
“Once again, a video shows us the truth of what really happened,” her lawyers Sanford Rubenstein and Scott Rynecki said in a statement.
Isaacs, a three-year veteran of the force, has since been stripped of his badge and his gun, while State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office is currently investigating the shooting incident.
