Rihanna will receive the Michael Jackson Video VANGUARD award at the VMAs

Rihanna is continuing to dominate the music scene with her latest achievement, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at MTV’s Video Music Awards.

This isn’t the only category that she will be nominated for; she also has been nominated for four other Moonmen awards.

This has been quite the year for Rihanna, as she released “Anti” earlier this year and has been on tour across the United States and Europe for the majority of the year.

Rihanna will finish the tour in England a week before the VMAs, which will be held in Madison Square Garden. She will also headline both Philadelphia’s Made in America Festival and New York City’s Global Citizen Festival later in September.

In previous years, the winners of the Video Vanguard Award have performed following the presentation. Some past winners include: Michael Jackson, Madonna, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé.

Over the course of the last decade, Rihanna has been nominated over 30 times at the award show and has won three times, including two Video of the Year awards for 2007’s “Umbrella” and 2012’s “We Found Love” with Calvin Harris.
