Netflix has just acquired the rights to Barry, the film that captured critics’ attention at the Toronto Film Festival.

The film follows the story of a young Barack Obama, played by Devon Terrell. The film, directed by Vikram Gandhi, takes place in New York City and follows the young Obama as he journeys through life, struggling to come to terms with who he is.

The story follows his discovery of culture, identity, and race as he navigates young adult life.

Netflix acquired the film after its special presentation on Saturday, September 10, with an initial bid rumored to be in the $4.5 million range.
