This Monday and Tuesday, #cut50 will host a #ClemencyNow event urging President Obama to grant more clemencies during a “Hope for the Holidays” event.
Over the two-day event, there will be a candlelight vigil, and the Department of Justice will receive Change.org petitions for clemencies. Additionally, the two days will see talks and discussions, including one with U.S. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). Activist and commentator Van Jones will also be featured.

President Obama has pledged to work for clemency for nonviolent offenders serving overly harsh drug sentences, and while he has already granted a record number of clemencies, there are still thousands who have petitioned for clemency who have not yet received it.
