Barack Obama and Justin Trudeau meet up for dinner in Montreal

On Tuesday night, former President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau met up in Trudeau’s home of Montreal for a candlelit dinner.

Trudeau took to Twitter to talk about the meeting, saying that he and Obama had talked about how to get the rising generation “to take action in their communities.” Obama wrote that the two of them were discussing their  “shared commitment” to the rising generation and getting them to be politically active and engaged in shaping the future.

Obama was in Montreal to give a speech at the Palais des congrès hosted by the Montreal Chamber of Commerce, where tickets were completely sold out and during which he discussed his work on the Paris Climate Accords, from which President Donald Trump has recently announced that the US would withdraw.

But the real story, according to the internet, was the rekindling of the romance between the former American leader and the current Canadian one. After all, the two of them sharing a candlelit dinner was the perfect setup for the Obama-Trudeau shippers to come out and make their jokes. They even had a long embrace when the meeting was over, nothing like the awkward, rough handshake that Donald Trump shared with French President Emmanuel Macron.
