Janet Jackson, 51, has lost a whopping 70 pounds and her trainer said she managed it without spending massive hours doing cardio.
Trainer Paulette Sybliss said that she began a “vigorous training schedule” with Jackson just six weeks after she gave birth to her son, Eissa, back in January.
“We were training a minimum of four times a week, and the sessions were never less than 45 minutes, no more than an hour,” Sybliss said. “Very intense though, very intense training.”
Jackson was looking to lose the baby weight but Sybliss said she focused the training on adding lean muscle to Jackson in order for her to be in prime shape for her State of the World concert tour.
Sybliss said they often did back-to-back weight workouts instead of cardio in order to get Jackson’s heart rate up in order to burn fat.
“What that does — you would look at her and think she’d done like an hour of cardio with me — but when you’re working with weights and you’re working the muscle that way, it elevates the heart rate, but also it’s creating that fat-burning effect, both during the session and also when she left me, and that was key,” Sybliss explained.
As for her diet, the trainer said she feels that moderation is key and she doesn’t get upset when her clients cheat here and there.
“If Janet feels that she needs to have a chocolate cake, go ahead and have a chocolate cake,” she said. “You’re not eating it every day. You won’t get fat overnight.”
