One guy really doesn’t want Oprah Winfrey to win should she run for president in 2020. So much so that he’s applied to trademark “NOprah” in order to cash in on the anti-O movement.
The Arizona man who goes by “Lewis,” according to TMZ, applied earlier this month for the sole rights to sell NOprah merchandise such as jackets, shoes, pants, shirts as well as other garments.
Lewis said he filed for the NOprah trademark because he saw what he considers solid opposition to Oprah running for POTUS against President Donald Trump. He says he is sick of celebrities in the Oval Office.
Lewis says he’s not yet sure he’ll sell the merchandise now or wait until she officially puts her hat in the ring.
It should be noted that he says he actually likes Oprah, he just doesn’t think she should be president.
The case for 2020
The talk of Winfrey running for president picked up steam after she gave a powerful “Times Up” speech at the Golden Globes in which she called for an end to harassment.
In the days since, people have been begging for her to run against Trump in 2020 and there have even been polls put out to gauge people’s reaction to the idea.
Conservative-leaning polling house Rasmussen talked to likely voters after the speech, and the numbers weren’t that surprising. Nearly half (48 percent) of likely voters said they’d vote for Oprah, with 38 saying they would vote for Trump and 14 percent undecided.
Obviously, the numbers were bigger among Democrats. Seventy-eight percent said they’d vote for Oprah, as opposed to 22 percent of Republicans and 44 percent of independents.
As for Trump, he got 66 percent of Republicans, 12 percent of Democrats, and 38 percent of independents.
What do you think? Are you team Oprah or team NOprah?
