Is a reboot ‘Fresh Princess of Bel-Air’ on the horizon?
It’s starting to feel a lot like the 90’s.
With a whole lot of our favorite old shows getting reboots, it’s no surprise that The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is reportedly being floated to join the ranks of the reboots.
According to TMZ, the company that owns the rights to Fresh Prince has filed trademark applications for Fresh Princess. It looks like they want the rights not only to a television show but to merchandising, like clothing and bags, which suggests that they’re really gunning for this program and hoping that it will bring in some serious cash.
An animated ‘Fresh Prince’?
Of course, the company that owns the rights has been looking for more ways to get money out of the Fresh Prince trademark outside of the reboot territory. Recently, TMZ reported that they had filed for trademark rights to a bunch of new toys, which had the rumor mill running about the possibility of a new take on the show.

Those rumors only seemed to heat up when Will Smith seemed to endorse the idea of an animated show, writing on social media along with a cartoon image of the Fresh Prince family: “Now THIS is what’s up! I had to post this hot piece by @thesketchlab. Never thought about FP in terms of animation.”
But while it definitely seems like Smith would love the idea of a cartoon version of the show, there isn’t any word on whether or not he would get involved with a Fresh Princess version.

Either way, we’re definitely excited about the possibility. If they do a Fresh Princess reboot, we definitely want to see a new version of the opening song with our leading lady singing along.
