Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson knows that the Baywatch movie was horrible, but like a true champ, he’s willing to admit it.
On Sunday night, the Razzie Awards took place alongside the Oscars. The Razzies are essentially the antithesis of the Academy Awards with nominations given to the worst movies and cringe-worthy performances of the last year. And Baywatch unfortunately fell into both categories.
Nominated for “Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel,” the film (based on the 1990’s television series) wasn’t a hit with most audiences and actor, Zac Efron received the dubious honor for one of the worst performances of the year playing the lifeguard sidekick to Johnson’s character, noted the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
While Baywatch didn’t actually win in either of those categories, the Razzies came up with a new category just for the film: “The Razzie Nomination so Rotten You Loved It!”

The Rock accepts defeat
The Rock took to Twitter to give his “acceptance speech,” writing “It’s the #Oscars and Hollywood’s biggest night! So let me go ahead and take this “L” right on the chin for Baywatch. Win some, lose some.. but hey, that’s the way love goes. @RazzieAwards #Baywatch #AndTheWinnerLosesOn.”
Johnson also admitted that Baywatch fell on its face, but at least it was a movie that came from the heart.

“We made ‘Baywatch’ with the best of intentions,” he said in the video. “It didn’t work out, but I humbly and graciously accept my Razzie… Go ‘Baywatch.’ Thank you for my Razzie. Give it to me!”

The Rock has nothing to be mad about since he is one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood and his last film, “Jumanji,” has made close to $400 million at the box office so far. After weeks at number one, the film was recently knocked out of first place by “Black Panther.”
