Terry Bryant was having the time of his life at an Academy Awards after-party until he got caught stealing Frances McDormand’s Oscar statue.

Terry Bryant was caught by authorities after boasting his theft on social media. He reportedly flashed McDormand’s Oscar trophy while proclaiming that it was his own.

Bryant entered his plea before a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge and was released on $20,000 bail.

Bryant plans to fight the felony charges stemming from the trophy swipe.

“There’s a difference between holding an Oscar and what he’s charged with,” Bryant’s lawyer Daniel Brookman told reporters.

On Sunday, Bryant some how managed to get into the exclusive Governors Ball, following the 90th annual Academy Awards broadcast. Somehow the party crasher managed to get his hands on Frances McDormand’s award and then took to Facebook kissing a gold statuette and claiming that he’d won one in the category of music.

“I got this. This is mine,” he proclaimed. “I’m about to go to so many parties.”

The only party Bryant may be headed for now is one in prison. He faces a maximum sentence of three years behind bars if convicted for stealing the Oscar belonging to best actress winner Frances McDormand.
