Tiffany Haddish says Oscars better come correct with the coins if she’s going to host

Tiffany Haddish is eyeing an opportunity to host the Oscars next year after her spirited onstage antics with Maya Rudolph became the talk of Tinseltown.

The breakout Girls Trip star is still glowing from her moment on the big stage, according to CNN, and told an audience at SXSW on Monday that she’s certainly willing to take up the gig as host but there’s one caveat: compensation.

“I know my father would be extremely proud if I got to do that. As long as I get a paycheck,” Haddish said about the volunteer hosting job.

“I would love to do something like that, that would be a dream come true, ” Haddish said.

Haddish has had a hard life and has been open about her experiences growing up in multiple foster homes and her struggle to make it as a stand-up comedian. She’s reportedly even being homeless and slept in her car. Haddish and Rudolph were not paid for their Oscar appearance, it’s a volunteer job and presenting simply holds prestige. Surely Haddish wants to ensure that she’s doing jobs that will pad her bank account and give her security so she doesn’t go broke again.

The lively actress was promoting her new TBS TV show, “The Last O.G.” in which she co-stars with comedian Tracy Morgan.

Haddish said at the annual interactive, film and music conference that she had at least hoped for a good gift bag but instead all she got was a cheap bottle of wine for her time.

“I was like, ‘Well what do I get?’ They were like, ‘We’ve got a bottle of wine that’s like thirteen dollars,'” she said. “So I had to buy the wine.”

“The Last O.G.” premieres April 3 on TBS.

New roles

Tiffany Haddish hasn’t confirmed the Oscar hosting gig yet but she’s already been tapped to host the MTV Movie and TV awards in June.

“Tiffany Haddish is quickly establishing herself as one of the most sought-after actresses and comedic talents in television and film,” MTV said of the decision to have her host.

And she’s also lending her voice to a new animated series for Netflix.

The streaming service has given the animated comedy series Tuca and Berti a straight to series order. It will consist of 10 episodes and Tiffany Haddish will be voicing one of the lead characters.

Deadline reports that Tiffany Haddish is also teaming up with Tyler Perry for his forthcoming movie The List. Haddish will star alongside Tika Sumpter (The Haves and the Have Nots) and Omari Hardwick (Power) for the Paramount Players flick.

Haddish has also signed a first-look deal with HBO.

Cleary she is more than ready!
