Starbucks to close 8,000 stores for an afternoon of racial bias training

It has now been announced that, “Starbucks says it will close more than 8,000 company-owned stores in the United States on the afternoon of May 29 to conduct racial-bias education geared toward preventing discrimination in our stores.” Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson says he is deeply sorry for the  “reprehensible” circumstances that led to the arrest of the two men at a store in Philadelphia’s Center City district Thursday.

After his Starbucks arrest went viral fraternity brothers rallied around Rashon Nelson

Fraternity brothers around the country are rallying around Rashon Nelson after a video of his arrest at a Philadelphia Starbucks made headlines. Nelson is a member of the Alpha Eta chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity and attended Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania as a finance major from 2013-2017. Nelson and his business partner were waiting to meet a colleague at Starbucks when police were called.Just as the friend of the two men arrived, the men were put in handcuffs and arrested by police.

Charges for Michigan man who shot at Black teen who asked for directions

Jeffrey Craig Zeigler, the Michigan man who shot at Brennan Walker when the Black teen asked for directions to school, has been charged with assault with intent to murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The retired firefighter allegedly shot at Walker when the 14-year-old knocked on Zeigler’s door asking for directions to school.

Woman fired after attacking pregnant soldier and hurling racist and homophobic slurs

A 72-year-old white grandmom acting gansta’ and laying hands on two black servicewomen was fired from her teaching gig at Mercer University and has been banned from ever coming back to eat at Cheddar’s. Judy Tucker verbally harassed Stephanie Mitchell and Treasure Sharpe after they backed into a parking space at the restaurant. Tucker hurled racial slurs at the women, and assaulted one of the service women who was pregnant.
