Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, whose team is looking for its third NBA title in four years, has signed a multi-year development and production deal with Sony Pictures across its film, television, and worldwide partnerships operations in the biggest media deal of any athlete to date.

The deal, first reported by Variety, will match Sony with Curry’s newly formed production company, Unanimous Media. Unanimous was founded by Curry and partners Jeron Smith and Erick Peyton, who will serve as chief executive and chief content officers, respectively.

The company will develop and produce film and television projects with a focus on family, faith, and sports. It will also extend to opportunities in partnerships, electronics, gaming, and virtual reality.

“I’ve been blessed to have this platform and I want to use it to affect the world positively,” Curry said. “Partnering with Sony to share inspiring content with a global audience was a foregone conclusion.”

Curry joins the likes of LeBron James and Academy Award winner Kobe Bryant in making the jump to being media moguls. James launched Uninterrupted, a player-focused website in 2015. Bryant founded Kobe Studios in 2016. He won an Oscar for the animated short, “Dear Basketball.”

Curry’s cultural influence has helped him led the NBA in jersey sales in back-to-back years and was rumored to be a part of the group bidding to buy the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. The deal with Sony is set to be the biggest media contract ever signed by an active professional athlete.

“Steph is a transcendent figure in current culture. His wide-ranging content creation interests overlap well with our varied businesses and we have been equally impressed with his team,” Tom Rothman, chairman at Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, said. “We are honored to have been drafted and now we know how lucky Golden State feels every day.”

Curry is currently nursing a knee injury and has missed the Warriors’ first round playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs. Assuming Golden State advances – they currently lead the series 3 games to 1 – he would return in time for round two against New Orleans.
