Ben Carson proposes shaking down poor people with rent hikes
HUD Secretary Ben Carson, the famous brain surgeon with no governmental experience prior to taking the job, is set to propose tripling the rent on low-income Americans. The Trump administration proposal would raise the rent cap for the poorest families to approximately $150 a month, three times higher than the current minimum. The White House says that the raise in rent would “encourage work and self-sufficiency” across its rental assistance programs.

Kanye West’s tweets his support of Trump and MAGA
Kanye West spent most of Wednesday tweeting incoherently, posting pictures from (presumably) his home asking if “it looks like the ‘Sunken Place” before posting a picture of himself wearing the infamous MAGA hat. It’s a hat and phrase that has also become heavily associated with white supremacist groups and the “Alt-Right.” It seems that if Kanye is using this as away to promote his alleged new albums.

Attorney: Woman at center of Waffle House arrest was ‘brutalized’
Civil Rights attorney Benjamin Crump said that Chikesia Clemons, the 25-year-old woman who endured a violent arrest at an Alabama Waffle House restaurant last weekend, says she was “assaulted,” “choked,” and “brutalized” by police. Crump, best known for representing the family of Trayvon Martin, and most recently of Stephon Clark, stood alongside Clemons’ mother and presented new witness accounts that contradict the police officers’ version of events.

Colin Kaepernick has not played a down in the NFL since 2016. Countless teams have avoided Kaepernick, opting to sign lesser-talented journeymen, or even retired players rather than the one-time Super Bowl quarterback due to his social activism. On Monday, during a pre-draft press conference, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll kept the door open on signing Kaepernick, telling USA Today that “there may be a place for him.”
