Police tase man for bogus traffic violation ‘Do you want another round?’

In another episode of driving while black and minding your business, National Guardsman Calvin Moreland said an NYPD cop tasered and arrested him, and now he has anxiety every time he sees an officer.
“It felt like when you get shot by a paint ball, your body tenses up and you cannot move. I had to catch my breath,” Moreland said.

Moreland explains that he was on his way home to his Bronx neighborhood when a police car pulled up behind him, reports the New York Daily News.
“I stopped for them to go around me. They didn’t go around me, so I made a right turn,” he said.
He pulled over when the officer flipped on the lights and siren and was just eight houses away from his home.
“(The officer) asked me, ‘What are you doing? Why don’t you think you should yield to an emergency vehicle? You didn’t see us behind you?’ ” said Moreland.
Moreland said he tried and as soon as a space to yield to the side was available, he pulled over. He tried to appeal to the cop about being a law-abiding citizen and explained that his dad was a cop too.
“I told him my dad is a retired officer and I was a peace officer at Bellevue Hospital for two years, but he told me to step out of the car,” Moreland said.
He said as he was stepping out, he used one hand to call his dad and the other to remove his seat belt. That’s when he says the taser hit him.

“He asked me, ‘Do you want another round?’ ” said Moreland.
Moreland was charged with resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration. The case has been put on hold for six months and will be dismissed if Moreland keeps his record clean.

The security guard has filed a complaint with the Internal Affairs Bureau and the Civilian Complaint Review Board as well as the Rev. Kevin McCall with the National Action Network.
“They used physical force on me when it wasn’t needed. . . . It hurts. We are supposed to be in the same brotherhood. I feel disrespected since they don’t see me as a brother, just another black man in the hood,” said Moreland.
Friday, Moreland will hold a rally outside the police station precinct and he wants the officers who tased him and arrested him without cause punished.
“This goes to show you, that the NYPD just thinks all black men are thugs,” said McCall.
