Idris Elba has a lot on his plate. Aside from being engaged to Sabrina Dowhre and parenting his two children, and starring in several upcoming films, the gorgeous actor is also readying the release of his directorial debut, Yardie.

The fim stars Aml Ameen and the first official trailer is finally here.

The movie is a reboot of Victor Headley’s 1992 flick of the same name. It’s set in the 1970s-‘80s and follows a man named D (Aml Ameen) who is haunted by the murder of his brother (Everaldo Creary).

Aside from marking his directorial debut, Yardie will likely hold special meaning for Idris Elba forever. At a screening for the film in February, he got down on one knee and proposed to Sabrina Dowhre in front of everyone. Once she accepted his proposal he stood and she wrapped her arms around him tightly.

They posted a picture of Idris Elba with the caption, “Another @riocinema first! Still 5 days to Valentines Day but @idriselba went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend live on stage this morning before a preview of his film #Yardie.

“She said yes and there was much clapping and cheering,” they went on to say.
Social media lit up with witnesses sharing the fact that they saw the happy moment for themselves.

One person tweeted, “At cast & crew screening of YARDIES & Idris Elba just proposed to his girlfriend Sabrina!! Big Congrats !!”

Another person posted, “At cast & crew screening of @YARDIES & @IdrisElba just proposed to his girlfriend Sabrina!! Too cute.”

The lucky lovebirds have been dating since last year. Idris Elba, 45 and Sabrina, 29 met in Canada when the actor was making the movie The Mountain Between Us. The movie co-starred Kate Winslet and was about a man and a woman who get stranded in the wilderness after their plane crashes.

Yardie premiered in the U.S. at Sundance in January and will hit theaters in the UK August 24.
