TRAGIC: Tina Turner loses eldest son, Craig Raymond to suicide
The 59-year-old was found dead in his home on Tuesday.
Tina Turner just lost her oldest son. Craig Raymond was found dead in his home in Studio City, CA on Tuesday.
According to reports, the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office confirmed he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Law enforcement arrived at the home around noon on Tuesday and pronounced him dead at the scene. He was 59.
Tina Turner gave birth to Craig Raymond at age 18 before marrying Ike Turner. His father was saxaphonist, Raymond Hill, who played for Ike’s band, Kings of Rhythm.
He and Tina Turner, (formerly known as Anna Mae Bullock) conceived Craig when she was a backup singer for the band and Ike Turner later adopted Raymond after he and Tina were married. Hill died in 1996 of congestive heart failure.
So far, Tina Turner has not released a statement on her son’s death but she’s reportedly in Paris for Fashion Week. She resides in Switzerland. The “What’s Love Got to Do With It” singer has been based in Switzerland for decades and she became a Swiss citizen in April 2013.
Turner, who reportedly speaks German fluently, had few ties to her native country “except for family, and has no plans to reside in the United States in the future.”
