Why Meghan Markle’s million dollar wardrobe turns heads after royal wedding

Meghan Markle is a royal darling and to keep the Duchess of Sussex looking stately, a royal fashion expert revealed that her wardrobe costs a pretty penny.

From her custom Givenchy wedding gown to her eye-catching Stella McCartney reception dress, Markle’s clothing tab has reportedly tipped the $1 million mark since her engagement to Prince Harry, Page Six reports.

5 reasons why being Duchess of Sussex may not be all it’s cracked up to be for Meghan Markle

Katie Nicholl told “Entertainment Tonight” that Markle’s clothing and accessories are “worth every penny” especially since the Duchess has been the subject of many media reports and kept everyone’s eyes glued to the happenings of the royal family.

“Look at the publicity she has brought in run up to the wedding,” Nicholl said.

Markle dazzled in her $440,000 very understated Clare Waight Keller wedding gown and her reception dress alone was $157,000. Those two statement pieces added greatly to the royal fashion tab. And every time’s Markle’s made a public appearance she looks like the bell of the ball.

She wore a light-colored cape dress to captivate audiences on her first public appearance with the Queen, which cost around $18,000, according to reports. Even though Markle wasn’t front and center during the Trooping the Colour ceremony, we still took notice of her $4,000 pink Carolina Herrera off-the-shoulder ensemble.

But there are times when less (money) is more and Markle sported a $643 sheer panel goat dress at Prince Charles garden Party.

Nicholl said you can even see Markle recycle some of her pricey outfits, much like Kate Middleton does, so don’t be surprised.

“When you are buying that sort of couture with those sorts of price tags it would be criminal not to re-wear them,” Nicholl said.

But even with the fancy threads, being a part of the royal family may not be cracked up to what we expect.

Being a Royal essentially means a life of service to the British monarchy and a very ordered but highly scrutinized existence, filled with what most Americans would consider arbitrary rules of etiquette.
