Gang members charged in teen’s machete murder fear for their lives at Rikers Island
The alleged killers of the Bronx teen are now under heavy surveillance at Rikers Island as officials scramble to keep them alive and protect them from some of deadliest killers, reports the NY Daily News.
Law enforcement officials say some of the alleged murderers of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz, are being kept in isolation for their safety. Guards are reportedly told to keep an eye on them at all times while the prison is on high alert.

“All movement in the jails stop when they move around, and we follow with a camera,” a law enforcement source told the Daily News. “The department is scared to death and is doing everything they can to keep them safe.”
The suspected men are reportedly Trinitarios gang members and numerous death threats have been made against the men.

Guzman-Feliz was only 15 and had aspirations to one day become a police detective. He even took part in the NYPD Explorers program. Although he will never realize his dream, the NYPD will invest in young people like Junior and offer two high school graduates $5,000 each in tuition reimbursement and school supplies once enrolled in an accredited school for the fall semester in his name.
