Social media is always trying to figure out the newest, magic formula to make a post go viral, but Shiggy denies Drake paid him to make “In My Feelings” challenge go viral and take off like crazy.

Kollege Kidd, Boxden.com and other blogs and sites have speculated that singer Drake paid social media influencer Shiggy $250,000 to help the song from Drake’s Scorpion album jump to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Shiggy’s #InMyFeelings #DoTheShiggy challenge which launched on The Shiggy Show has spread nationwide, to entertainers such as Will Smith, singer Ciara, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and even the police department in Orlando, spawning a reach even further than the “Running Man Challenge.”

In an Instagram live video, Shiggy denied receiving payment.

“N—-s is lying; n—-s telling stories on me, man,” Shiggy said in the video recorded with a selfie stick in which he appears to be talking to friends who told him about the rumor.

“Yo, blogs is crazy,” he continues, laughing at the idea that he was paid. “They said I made $250,000 … ain’t make no damn $250,000.”

DJ Akademics backed up Shiggy’s statements, posting on Twitter that the story is a lie and he has “official confirmation” that Drake did not pay Shiggy for the marketing boost.

Earlier this week, TheGrio reported that Shiggy and Drake did in fact meet and Drake acknowledged that the viral situation did help boost the song to top of the charts – so much so that the label had to rework plans to begin pushing “Don’t Matter to Me” – a track featuring Michael Jackson.

As for Drake, the Toronto-based artist has been mum on the claims of payment, but on Monday, he did thank Shiggy for the boost.

“Man got me a No. 1 record today. Oh my God!” Drake said.
