Here is why Kanye West is done taking advice from folks

West, who once said he doesn’t take advice from anyone who “isn’t as successful as him,” recently tweeted that he’s going it alone.

Anyone who has borne witness to the, umm, eccentric behavior of Kanye West over the last decade has likely asked the question, “who is giving him career advice?”

Well, whoever was doling out advice, he’s officially made it clear that he is no longer taking it.

West, who once said he doesn’t take advice from anyone who “isn’t as successful as him,” recently tweeted that he’s going it alone.

“I’m not taking no advice for the rest of my life,” West said on Thursday. He later tweeted: “I hate talking about things I’m supposed to talk about.”

What sparked these random thought bubbles from Kanye? Who knows.

But this has been an especially strange year for the mercurial West, whose leap back into the public conscience has been marked with erratic and problematic behavior.

So far this year, he has attempted to dismiss slavery; parroted white supremacist statements about Black people supporting the Democratic Party and called himself a “free thinker”; donned a MAGA hat in support of Donald Trump; and – along with his wife, Kim Kardashian – got into a public spat on Twitter with Grammy-winning songwriter Rhymefest over control of a charity named in honor of Kanye’s late mother, Donda.

In the midst of this, his long-awaited album, Ye, was a critical dud. He also revealed that his last mental breakdown in 2016 was caused by an addiction to opioids after having liposuction. So, who knows what’s next for Mr. West.

Assuming he would listen, what advice would you give him? Sound off in comments.
