Logic brings a stage full of shade to the Trump immigration debacle

The rapper didn't mince words or sentiment when he send a stern message regarding the White House's much maligned immigration policies

During his performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, hip hop star Logic, surrounded by dozens of kids, turned the stage into a village, apparently sending a direct message — and perhaps an F-bomb — to the Trump administration’s controversial immigration policies.

The “Everybody” rapper used the musical stage as a political platform of sorts Monday night and along with OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder at the piano, he powerfully brought full frontal, the real life kids who were once locked away in cages or their parents were accosted and detained by the US Border Patrol, the Daily Mail reports.

Logic political stance was a slap in the face protest to the Trump immigration policies. The rapper held kids’ hands and sang about how everything’s ‘gonna be alright’ while sporting a ‘F**k The Wall’, shirt.

The emotional tribute was not complete without a simulated reunification. Parents of the children emerged from behind a screen to run to their kids, giving them a full embrace after having them back in their loving arms. The children and parents wore ‘We Are All Human Beings’ shirts – a clear-cut message to the President and the people who have treated them like anything but that.

From the response of the applause that erupted from the celebrity-filled audience, Logic made his point.

“So much for live tweeting the VMAs, I’m probably just gonna spend the rest of the night tweeting about how great @Logic301’s performance was,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“When the parents came out on stage to reunite with their children during @Logic301 performance I started crying. Love how he always uses his platform to spread awareness for bigger issues,” another added.

“Thank you Logic for the compassion and humanity that defines you. If the rest of the world was like you, it would be a better place,” one commenter said.

There was no tweet from Donald Trump criticizing the heartfelt performance – at least not yet.

Jefferson Arpi, a fifteen-year-old whose dad has been detained was among the group of kids who took the stage.

“I’m so excited to have performed with Logic tonight,” Arpi said in a statement.

“It meant a lot to me to be able to represent my family because my dad, Manuel Arpi, is in a detention camp.’

“Logic’s music video showed that even though our families face a lot of pain, we are strong, we are fighters, and we are human.”

In January, during a post-Grammy Awards press conference, Logic made a statement saying that African countries are not shi*tholes, as President Trump once called them.

TheGrio’s Natasha Alford, asked him why he chose to take such a strong political stance.  He replied:

“Look I’m not a politician but if that man can call those beautiful places sh*tholes, I can stand up and say they are not sh*tholes and that they are amazing. And that’s all I wanted to do. I didn’t want to stir anything up. I just wanted to tell the truth. We are all beautiful.”
