Niecy Nash claims she was disinvited from Veuve Clicquot party due to racism
The 'Claws' actress put the party planners on blast
Niecy Nash was dissed and dismissed and she’s not taking it lying down. The actress took to social media to explain how she was treated by a popular event planner in Los Angeles.
According to the Claws star, she received a personal invite to the annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Will Rogers Polo Club in Los Angeles by The A List founder, Ashlee Margolis.
Niecy Nash claims her invitation was rescinded on the day of the ultra-chic event and she’s blaming her skin color for the mishap.
“My invite was rescinded bcuz I was the wrong caliber of guest..2x Emmy nominee. Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, #1 summer show Claws. NOT white. Let’s see who makes the cut… smh,” she tweeted.
She also made it clear that she won’t be purchasing anymore pricey bottles of bubbly from the company now that she has been disrespected.
“I wouldn’t come to your event if you paid me,” she added. “Wait u wouldn’t. I’m not white.”
Nash has deleted the tweets but TheJasmineBrand captured a screen shot before they disappeared.
It’s hard to say whether or not Niecy Nash was indeed dismissed because of her skin color or if there were other issues at hand.
BOSS MOVES: TNT orders late-night series pilot from Niecy Nash
So far, the company has made no official statement, but we’re guessing they reached out to her to make amends since she deleted her social media rant. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what comes of this.
Meanwhile, Nash is likely busy readying her new talk show for TBS.
According to reports, the Claws star just sold a pilot for her late-night series Naked with Niecy Nash to TNT. Nash will host and executive produce the series that would have her tackling issues of love, sex, romance and relationships with regular folks. If it’s picked up, it will be the first late-night series for the network that’s already home to Claws.
Former Chelsea and Chelsea Lately EP, Sue Murphy, will executive produce the series and serve as show runner.
“I’m so excited to add my voice to the late-night landscape,” Niecy Nash said in a statement. “Love is the thing we were created for but it’s also the place we struggle the most… until now! This is going to be a fun and sexy ride! TNT is the perfect partner for me in this endeavor! Adding an experienced and amazing executive producer and showrunner like Sue Murphy to this mix was the cherry on top.”
The series would make Niecy Nash the first late-night show host for TNT and she would be one of only two women to host a ate-night show on a major network along with Samantha Bee who hosts Full Frontal with Samantha Bee on TBS.
