Bill Cosby replacing legal team before upcoming appeal

Bill Cosby is looking for new legal guidance and has hired another legal team as he navigates his upcoming appeal for his rape conviction, the Philadelphia Tribune reports.

Back in June Cosby fired Tom Mesereau and replaced him with Joseph P. Green Jr. Now Green is being replaced with criminal defense attorneys Brian Perry and Kristen Weisenberger of Harrisburg says a court filing entered Friday.

Cosby’s lawyers are challenging the outcome of the case and his sentencing.

Cosby was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison and classified as a ‘sexually violent predator’.

Constand accused Cosby of drugging and assaulting her at his home in 2004, even though his lawyers insist his sexual relationship with the former employee at Temple University was consensual.

During the trial, prosecutors presented a slew of witnesses to convince the jury that the 81-year old Cosby had been a serial predator who has sexually assaulted dozens of women over the years, including Constand, who accused Cosby of drugging and sexually abusing her in a 2004 encounter. The comedian acknowledges sexual contact took place, but says their interaction was consensual.

Cosby was handcuffed and taken immediately into custody.

Constand was one of 50 women who have accused Cosby of sexual assault. Her case was the one still open for prosecution.

Prison Life

While attorneys for Bill Cosby figure how to get him out of prison, they are also trying to quell rumors about him on the inside.

The embattled comedian, who was convicted of sexual assault last month, reportedly has spent the first the first two weeks of his 3-to-10 year prison term being evaluated by prison staff and spending most of his time in his own cell.

One thing that is apparently not true is that he was assaulted with a piece of chicken. According to TMZ, the rumor that Cosby, who coincidentally had a famous 1972 stand up bit called “Chicken Heart,” was hit with a chicken patty after telling a distasteful joke are not true.

“The way I see it, you have to be very angry to throw your meal in jail because I don’t think you get seconds,” an unnamed source told RadarOnline last week. “Mr. Cosby told us last week that the chicken patty was the best meal he had so far at SCI Phoenix Opens a New Window.  … so that says a lot.”
