At the harrowing end of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, last April we saw übervillain Thanos snap his fingers and four of our favorite Black Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, Black Panther (T’Challa), his brilliant sister Shuri, Nick Fury and Falcon (Sam Wilson) disintegrated with the rest of about half of all life in the universe.

But with the latest trailer for its sequel Avengers: Endgame due out April 26, fans are still wondering about their fate and that of several other characters.

By the middle of Infinity War we lost two of our own: Heimdall (Idris Elba), the guardian of Asgard, was killed by Thanos soon after he sent an alert to Earth via the Hulk.

Gamora (Zoe Saldana) was also felled at Thanos’ hand, which he successfully adorned with all six Infinity Stones to become the ultimate power in the universe — and fulfill his cosmic resource conservationist philosophy.

If that’s not geeky enough, here’s the real question:

Will any of these Black Characters Return in Avengers:Endgame?

Shuri (Letitia Wright)

Shuri’s fate is still unsure, but her mother from Black Panther may be giving fans hope of her return. Queen Mother Ramona, played by Angela Bassett was asked by Screen Rant if she died in Infinity Wars. Bassett replied, “No,” she said. “Neither did my daughter. Shuri, she’s a bright girl there in Wakanda.” Although Bassett wasn’t in Infinity War, maybe she’ll be around to support Shuri in Endgame.

Black Panther/T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman)

T’Challa’s disappearing death also came at the end of Infinity War as Thanos softly snapped his fingers. But MCU theorists also doubt he’s never coming back. CNET thinks there’s no way Marvel will kill off this many characters at one time. Also it may not be smart financially to kill off T’Challa completely because of the amount of traction and money (more than $1 billion) the Black Panther has raked in.

Falcon/Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie)

Falcon along with other avengers turned into dust at the end of the movie as Thanos obtained the Infinity Stones. But what happens to him is still unclear. Mackie told Build Series in an interview: “I wish I died in a better way than turning to dirt. I feel like everybody who’s died has had this cool death scene.” Mackie said. Mackie mentions his death but not a resurrection so audiences will have to stay tuned.

Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson)

If there’s any hope for the universe, it may lie with the signal Nick Fury managed to transmit in the post-credit scene from Infinity War. Within the last few minutes of the sequence, Fury got a message out to Captain Marvel (whose own feature was released Mar. 8) before he turned to vapors in hopes that she might be able to rescue them all. Whether or not she’s able to help turn things around is anyone’s guess.

The Marvel Universe is known for staging deaths and bringing people back to life. Sources like Screen Rant, believe there’s no way all these characters are truly gone. Other Marvel movies like “Spiderman: Far From Home,” expected July 5, suggest his character and others may come back to life.
