Rep. Rashida Tlaib is speaking out about a “hateful and bullying” note that was addressed to fellow freshman congresswoman Rep. Ilhan Omar in the wake of her controversial comments about Israel.

On Tuesday, Tlaib, who represents part of Detroit and its suburbs, tweeted out a picture of the message left on her office door. It accused Omar, who represents Minneapolis and some suburbs, of working against the best interests of the Jewish community.

“Rep Omar, stop your disgusting Jew hatred,” read the handwritten post-it note. “Your sign says “Justice for all”. That means Jews too. Your Jihad against the Jews will fail. Am Yisrael Chai!”

It isn’t clear why a note addressed to Omar was left on Tlaib’s congressional office door. But both their offices are located in the same House of Representatives office building in Washington D.C.

Omar, who is one of the first Muslim women in Congress, sparked backlash last month when she suggested that supporters of Israel were pressuring lawmakers to have “allegiance to a foreign country.” Earlier in the year she also suggested that pro-Israel lobbyist group AIPAC was buying political support from members in Congress.

“It’s all about the Benjamins baby,” she wrote in the tweet, which received backlash from other members of Congress. She later apologized for it.

After being accused of spreading anti-Semitic tropes on both sides of the aisle, Omar later apologized for her language but continues to be a target for Republicans who keep citing it as evidence of her bigotry.

Earlier this month, Rev. Al Sharpton called out the GOP attack against Omar. He believes this is a clear case of hypocrisy from a party that repeatedly ignores bigotry against other groups, “at a time when bigotry and hate crimes are on the rise, with a president who is promoting white nationalists and the like.”
