Nathaniel David Rowland, 24, was charged with picking up Samantha Josephson at a South Carolina bar after posing as her Uber driver.

Authorities say Josephson assumed her Uber had arrived and entered Rowland’s dark colored car, which turned out to be a deadly mistake.

Police claim Rowland struck the college student multiple times with a sharp object in her head, neck, face, upper body, leg, and foot. Her body was then dumped about 65 miles away in a nearby county.

Rowland’s parents Henry and Loretta Rowland don’t believe their son is responsible for Josephson’s death and told WACH News that he’s a “good kid,” incapable of such a horrific crime.

“There’s no way in the world that he could do this,” Henry said.

“My heart goes out to the family because they lost a life. I feel so bad, but my son didn’t do it. The truth is going to come to light.”

The Rowlands said their son has an alibi and was at a party when Josephson was abducted.

Police found Rowland’s car with Josephson’s blood and cellphone when they arrested him after a short police pursuit.

Rowland’s parents said they are looking for an attorney for their son.

However, surveillance footage shows Josephson getting into Rowland’s black Chevy Impala. After she was taken away by Rowland, her real uber showed up but cancelled the ride thinking she did not show up.
