Celebrities react to the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman
Chadwick Boseman's peers use social media to mourn his death.
The shocking news of Chadwick Boseman‘s passing has left fans, friends and family mourning the loss of the 43-year-old actor’s life.

Boseman, star of films such as 21 Bridges, Black Panther and 42, died after a four-year battle with colon cancer. A message shared on his social media platforms confirmed the loss. The actor never spoke publicly about his diagnosis of colon cancer.
“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” said the statement.
“From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more – all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”
Many of his Hollywood peers have used social media to publicly offer memories, messages, and more celebrating the life and legacy of the late actor.
Angela Bassett, who portrays T’Challa’s mother, Ramonda, and queen mother of Wakanda in Black Panther, paid tribute to Boseman on Instagram.
“This young man’s dedication was awe-inspiring, his smile contagious, his talent unreal. So I pay tribute to a beautiful spirit, a consummate artist, a soulful brother,” she wrote, ending the post with “#WakandaForever.”
Black Panther actor Sterling K. Brown, who portrayed T’Challa’s brother N’Jobu, was at a lost for words, thanking Boseman for “being a friend” in a tweet.
Actress Jurnee Smollett shared a tweet, featuring a GIF of Boseman as T’Challa in Black Panther, one of his most impactful roles.
Mark Ruffalo starred alongside Chadwick Boseman as The Incredible Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The two worked on multiple films together as costars. He shared a loving message to his “brother.”
Chris Evans, who played Captain America in multiple Marvel films, spoke on Twitter about Boseman’s passing, saying the news is “beyond heartbreaking” and calling Boseman a “true original.”
Don Cheadle also shared the MCU with Hulk and Black Panther as War Machine and shared his love for Boseman on Twitter.

Cicely Tyson, who has not uploaded a tweet in over a year, shared words directly to Boseman.
Samuel L. Jackson on Twitter thanked Boseman “for all that you gave us,” adding that the world “needed it & will always cherish it!”
Kerry Washington said on Twitter that Boseman was a “warrior of light til the very end.”
Young and rising Hollywood talent Miles Brown shared a message for his “hero.”
Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris shared a “heartbroken” message sending condolences to the family of her fellow Howard University alum. Harris shared an image of the two of them at an event for immigrant families. It also happened to be the same picture Boseman shared in what would be his very last tweet.
Actress Viola Davis also paid tribute to Boseman writing, “Chadwick…..no words to express my devastation of losing you. Your talent, your spirit, your heart, your authenticity……..It was an honor working beside you, getting to know you….Rest well prince…May flights of angels sing thee to thy heavenly rest. I love you!”
She added, “My heart cannot take 2020! Please God no more!!!”
Oprah Winfrey in a tweet wrote that Boseman is the epitome of “Greatness” and “Dignity.”
