‘Lovecraft Country’ star Jonathan Majors nabs leading role in ‘Ant-man’ film
According to Deadline, Majors has likely signed on to play the terrifying villain Kang the Conqueror in the third installment of the film franchise
Jonathan Majors is making his presence in Hollywood known in more ways than one. The current star of HBO’s thrilling series, Lovecraft Country, is joining the MCU after snagging a leading role in the upcoming Ant-Man film.
According to Deadline, Majors has likely signed on to play the terrifying villain Kang the Conqueror in the third installment of the film franchise that stars Paul Rudd as Ant-Man. The studio has not confirmed the news, but Deadline reports the film will be directed by Peyton Reed with a script from Jeff Loveness.
Speculation is swirling that the time-traveling villain from the comics, who battles several Marvel heroes, may have a slightly different storyline for the big screen.
Majors has caused quite the stir in his latest role, leading the incredibly satisfying Lovecraft Country, an addictive project created by Misha Greene and produced by Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams. He also made a big impact earlier this summer in Spike Lee‘s Da 5 Bloods and co-starred in the 2017 film Hostiles. Next up, he’s set to star as Nat Love in Netflix’s upcoming film The Harder They Fall.
It’s still unclear how Marvel will address the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman in the upcoming Marvel flicks. The actor, who won hearts all over the world as Black Panther, died last month after a private battle with colon cancer. The beloved actor was recently laid to rest near his hometown in South Carolina.
