Will Packer and Nephew Tommy share details on ‘Ready To Love: Last Resort’
The newest edition of ‘Ready To Love’ premiers on OWN this Friday
On Friday, the latest season of “Ready To Love” will debut on OWN. The series brings together determined Houston-based singles looking for long-lasting romantic connections.
As part of the network’s expansion into unscripted series, the popular dating show returns with host Thomas “Nephew Tommy” Miles, and producer Will Packer leading the way. theGrio reported the second season of Ready To Love coincides with OWN’s new friday-night lineup.
“Over the years, OWN has established Saturday nights as the leading destination for Black women focusing on unscripted programs in the love and relationship space and we look forward to continuing that momentum on Friday nights this fall,” said Tina Perry, president of OWN, according to the report.
The show was previously filmed in Atlanta, but the show has made its way to a new location. This season will showcase couples who are quarantined together at a secluded mountain resort.
“You get some of everything in Houston, everything is bigger in Texas, that means personalities. That means egos. That means intentions and passions all bigger,” Packer said during the press conference.
Nephew Tommy, a Houston native followed up, “I felt very well with these contestants from Houston. The 20 men, and women [are] entrepreneurs and go-getters. The women are beautiful, these guys, I don’t know what gym they go to but good God, I need to be in there with them. We got a great group of people so I felt good, I stuck my chest out and [I] say Houston represented well.”

Both host and producer said besides having an all-Black cast, Ready To Love is different from other dating shows in content.
“This is grown and sexy and these are these individuals that are looking for love,” Nephew Tommy remarked.
“I think an audience that wants to see, largely intelligent, confident, secure people who are passionate,” Packer followed up. “It’s not like we don’t have drama. This is a different kind of drama than what’s out there also shows. These are largely professional singles, who are looking for something specific, so they’re coming in with a goal in mind, as opposed to some other shows that do other things.”
Ultimately, the Girls Trip producer is happy to have this professional endeavor. Packer said he appreciates the representation of Black people on various personal and romantic journeys.
Nephew Tommy said his role as host is a highlight of working on the series because he gets to help people find what they want.
Ready To Love: Last Resort kicks off Friday at 9 p.m. ET.
